Adult OLV is both more common and, in many ways, less technically challenging; thus, this workshop aims to ensure clinicians are confident in utilising various devices and maneuvers that are available in paediatric practice. The workshop starts with the reasoning and benefits behind OLV, as well as a review of some unique paediatric physiological factors. Size and device considerations will be discussed in some detail. The instructors will then go over the various techniques (with bronchoscopic and mannequin support), when they would reach for them, and plenty of clinical pearls to pull it off successfully.

SATURDAY WORKSHOP

Gastric Workshop

$400.00

Held at Gold Coast University Hospital

This highly practical workshop is designed to build confidence and competence in paediatric gastric ultrasound through intensive, hands-on experience. With a strong focus on skill acquisition, participants will have the opportunity to perform and interpret supervised scans, working towards completing up to 20 gastric ultrasound assessments during the session.

The workshop will cover key principles of image acquisition, antral grading, and clinical decision-making in the context of aspiration risk assessment. After a concise introductory overview, the majority of the session will be dedicated to small-group, faculty-guided scanning on paediatric models, ensuring personalised feedback and iterative skill development.

Ideal for anaesthetists at all stages of training, this workshop emphasises translating theory into practice—equipping participants with the confidence to incorporate gastric ultrasound into everyday clinical care.
