ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Prizes

SPANZA will be awarding a best oral presentation prize of $500 and the best poster prize of $250.

ANZAPS will also be awarding presentation prizes with the dollar amount tbc.

Guidelines

Please note the following instructions when submitting abstracts:

  • Must not exceed 1000 words.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted as text. You will need to either type the details into the text box provided or you can copy and paste the text from a word document. No table, graphs or pictures can be submitted.
  • All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on the basis of scientific merit. The program committee will use these rankings to develop the final program.
  • Not all abstracts submitted will necessarily be accepted for presentation.
  • At the time of submitting your abstract, the data should not have been presented at any other meeting nor published as a proffered paper.  In exceptional circumstances this requirement may be waivered and the applicant should contact the meeting Convenor to discuss this. If the research presented was supported by a commercial organisation, a statement identifying this support must be submitted.
  • If the research involved human subjects, it must have been approved by your institutional review board or Human Ethics Committee and conform to International Standards of Human Care.
  • Do not include titles or degrees
  • Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in the Conference App – the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors. Standard scientific abbreviations may be used – non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word.
  • Present sufficient data to support conclusions – it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as “data will be presented” or “results will be discussed”.

Please note: The Organising Committee reserves the right to allocate papers as they see fit.

TYPES OF PRESENTATION

Poster presentation

Poster presentations of original research, audit or case series are welcomed. SPANZA may ask you to present this poster as a physcial or a digital poster and more details will be provded once you are accepted to present.

Oral presentation

Authors of these selected abstracts will be notified prior to the meeting and will be allocated a specific time for presentation during the Free Papers session. Exact timing will be determined at the time of notification.

Submission details

Authors should submit abstracts online, as early as possible, but no later than the advertised deadline. You will receive an automatic acknowledgement of the receipt of your abstract and you will be notified by email in late July on the success of your submission and the required format. The Organising Committee reserves the right to contact authors, if required, to clarify the nature of intended presentations prior to making decisions regarding their acceptance.

Conditions of Submission

At least one author must be available to present (in person) at the conference if accepted. All presenters must register to attend the conference and are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and registration expenses. Further detailed instructions will be sent to authors of accepted papers.
